January 13th, 2021

People are always looking for solutions to ensure that they have young, clear and glowing skin. A common condition that occurs as a result of prolonged standing and walking, pregnancy, hormones, genetics or age itself is spider veins. Spider veins (a.k.a telangiectasia or venulectasias) looks like a group of tiny red, blue or purple thread-like veins in the shape of a spider web, close to the surface of the skin. These veins can develop on almost any part of the body and face, but most frequently on thighs, calves, ankles or buttocks. They have the ability to make your legs look old, even if they’re toned! Resolve this issue with the GentleMax Pro laser!

How to Prepare for the Treatment

Major preparation isn’t required, however there are some small steps you can take in order to ensure a successful treatment. Avoid sun exposure for 4-6 weeks, aspirin and smoking at least a week before the procedure. You also can’t be treated if you have a spray tan or artificial tan. On the day of, avoid creams, lotions and moisturizers and wear comfortable clothing.

The Treatment

With a small handheld device, the doctor will deliver each laser light pulse to the area being treated. During the treatment, you may experience slight discomfort with each laser pulse. Many patients say that the feeling is similar to the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. However, the discomfort isn’t too bad since the device is paired with a dynamic cooling system. Also, to ease some pain, topical anesthetic may be applied to the skin. This treatment can take a few minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated.

After Treatment

Immediately after the treatment, your skin may experience some redness and swelling to the area, which may feel like a sunburn. The discomfort can be cured with some ice and aloe vera. This feeling could last either a few hours, or up to 2 days. There’s very little downtime after this treatment. Directly after the treatment, avoid extreme heat, sun exposure, exfoliating or irritating products. If you’re going to spend time in the sun, use lots of sunscreen! Appointments should be scheduled 6-8 weeks apart.
