Facts About Laser Hair Removal

November 14th, 2022

Imagine silky smooth skin without having to wax or shave so often. With laser hair removal it’s easily achievable.

Facts About Laser Hair Removal

Based on the results of this treatment, laser hair removal is a popular treatment for long term hair reduction and worth the investment. Are you deciding on if you should get the laser hair removal treatment? Here are some facts about laser hair removal to help you make your decision!

Laser Hair Removal Can Be Used For Almost Every Area of the Body

When it comes to hair removal, the most treated areas are the face, legs and underarms. But, laser hair removal can be treated around the eyebrows, upper lip, back, bikini area, beard, and almost everywhere else on the body.

Laser Hair Removal Isn’t Completely Permanent At The First Session

Although laser hair removal does a great job of removing hairs from the body, there may be a handful of stubborn hairs that require a few sessions to ensure its full removal. Some clinics may promise perfectly smooth skin after the first treatment but don’t be fooled! It typically takes 2-3 weeks to see a difference and then 8-12 sessions to achieve the full result.

You’ll Need to Be Cleanly Shaved Before Your First Session

Before your laser removal session, you’ll need to be cleanly shaved for optimal results. This will prevent the burnt hair smell when the laser reacts with your skin’s surface. When removing hair before your appointment, do not tweeze, wax, or pluck the area that you’ll be treating for optimal results. These methods might remove the root of the hair follicle which is required for the laser to delay/halt hair growth.

Laser Hair Removal May Not Work On Lighter Hair

Although laser hair removal works on all skin complexions, laser hair removal isn’t very effective with lighter hair. The laser focuses on the pigment of the hair, since blonde, grey, and white hairs are either weak or lack in pigment, the laser would not be able to reach the hair follicle. But, just because you have lighter hair, you may still benefit from laser hair removal in areas where the hair grows darker (i.e. the underarms or bikini area).
