Eliminate Skin Discolouration!

January 13th, 2021

Finding the perfect concealer to cover up severe blemishes and discolouration can be frustrating. There’s nothing more desirable than feeling comfortable in your own skin and being able to show off your natural beauty. Melasma, also known as “chloasma,” is a common skin condition that causes brown patches on the face on areas including cheeks, bridge of the nose, forehead, chin and above the upper lip. This condition appears on body parts that receive the most sun exposure. Most individuals affected are women, however it can impact some men.

Eliminate Skin Discolouration!

The Treatment

Dr. Boulos med spa treats melasma and post-inflammatory pigmentation using the spectra laser q-switched Nd, known for its versatility, reliability and safety. The treatment may require multiple sessions (6-10) to achieve long-lasting results, depending on the condition of your skin. Spectra lotion will be applied to your skin, prior to the laser treatment. Using the laser won’t hurt, however you may experience a warm and tingly sensation. Along with eliminating melasma, the laser treatment provides other benefits including glowing skin, removal of acne scars, improvement of skin texture and wrinkle reduction.

  • No downtime
  • Minimal side effects

Post-Treatment

There is minimal to no downtime required with this treatment. Improvement may be seen in as little as 2-4 weeks, and in 3-4 months, you will notice a significant difference in the appearance of your skin.

Post-treatment, it’s important to ensure that you’re wearing and re-applying sunscreen. Purchase sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, preferably with medical grade quality. Even if it’s not sunny outside, sunscreen should be worn daily to avoid pigmentation that can be caused with sun exposure. Ensure that your facial cleansers, creams or make-up don’t irritate your skin in order to avoid worsening melasma. Lotions and creams with ingredients such as zinc oxide and titanium oxide will assist you in blocking ultraviolet radiation and visible light.
